Raise a voice against cruelty towards animals
|
Tethering a dog is cruel and should be stopped.
Camellia Satija, Founder Trustee, Kindness to Animals and Respect for
Environment (KARE) answers some of the queries on chaining.
Q : If dogs are to be confined - what conditions should be
provided ?
CS : Dogs should be confined only if necessary, and for
very short times. The area should be sheltered from the weather, be safe
and have a comfortable bedding, water and supervision. Chained dogs should
not be left alone.
Q : Should chaining or tethering ever be allowed ?
CS : Chaining of dogs should be done only for the purpose
of traing him, or taking him to the vet.You could tether ypur dog if you
are doing anerrand outside your house and you are close to him.Of course
you must 'chain' your dog iwhen you are taking him for a walk.Other than
that, chaining is a big no. IUnstead you can allocate an open area in
your house/garden (supervising him at regular intervals), where he would
be free to roam around.
Q : What can be done to correct the problem of tethering dogs?
CS : Create awareness! Educate dog owners about the cruelty
involved in tethering dogs.Tell them about the PCAACT 1960 and have the
law implemented.
Q : Why should a community outlaw the continuous chaining
or tethering of dogs?
CS : Because it is cruel reasons, and because the law
says so ! Any community can be judged for its level of civilization depending
on the manner in which it treats its animals. Moreover we should be
morally obliged to do so.

Q : My
Dog MnM was given Coronavirus booster, within half an hour, he was vomiting
and became extremely lethargic. After 2 hours, he suddenly began to suffer

His vet advised me to bring him in immediately for another injection.
The reaction subsided in a couple of hours but the facial oedema left
him only after 24 hours. Please guide what to do when the next Coronavirus
booster is due.
